We have been learning about different professions that parent's in our syndicate have.
Today we had Mr Kerry Fenton, Hamish Graham, Ta'i Hewitt and Jacoline Brink talk to the children in the middle school about their jobs.
The children picked one of the jobs they wanted to learn more about today. Some children learnt about what it was like to be a swimming Instructor.
Here are the questions they asked Jacoline

When did you start working?
in 2010, so that has been 5 years

Who trained you to be a swimming instructor?
-Swim New Zealand
-At Swim centre you can get trained
-Watch other swim teachers and take notes
-Go and ask questions

Why did you choose to be a swimming instructor?
I wanted to work part-time. A good friend was an instructor. I loved swimming.

What is it like?
It does get cold, in the winter the water is cold. Sometimes it can be a little scary when it is someone new and I am  getting to know the person I am working with

What was it like when you started?
It was scary, I didn't want to make a mistake. It ok if you make a mistake.

Who do you work for and who hired you?
I work for H20 and that comes under the Upper Hutt City Council

Do you like your job?
I love swimming. I love teaching children.

Did you have to save anyone?
Lucky not. I did have an incident. The mother was pregnant and she was hot and tired. I had to pull her out of the water and call the life guard.

What time do you start work?
I start at 9.30- I go at 9am to get changed and get all the equipment out.

What did you do to get in?
I did an application and had an interview. I had to answer some questions.

Have you taught anyone else?
Togzone

Did you teach in South Africa?

No, there are not enough pools.
